An overview of DV month

North Brisbane Vulnerable Persons and Domestic Violence Unit (NBDVPU) had a HUGE month to raise awareness of domestic and family violence in our community.
May 12: Senior Constable Lee and Senior Constable McKeering attended the annual Vaisakhi Indian Festival.
The officers dressed in ceremonial spiritual attire of Sikhism.
May 13: NBDVPU awarded by Brisbane Domestic Violence Service a recognition plaque for ‘Above and Beyond Achievement 2019’, working in partnership supporting persons directly affected by domestic and family violence.
May 15: Officers from Sandgate Police and NBDVPU rolled up their sleeves at Keith Murray Bikeway, Bracken Ridge for the annual tree planting ceremony, hosted by Sandgate and Bracken Ridge Action Group (SANDBAG).
Also in attendance was Councillor for Bracken Ridge Ward, Amanda Cooper.
Part of SANDBAG’s other domestic violence proactive initiates are asking persons in the Bracken Ridge area to put on their bins ‘4017 says NO to DV’ (domestic violence).
