Secure your motor vehicle this weekend
As we continue to have motor vehicles stolen and broken into, police are looking for local residents to get on board and give them a hand in combating these offences.
There are very simple and inexpensive security measures that residents can employ to make sure that they are less likely to be a victim of property crime.
One of these security measures is to fit your number plates with anti theft screws. The screws make stealing of number plates a lot more difficult.
Police and NHW groups will be at Taigum Square Shopping Centre to fit the screws for free between 9 and 11 am this Sunday, October 28th
Simply look for the NHW information booth in the car park off Church Road and take the opportunity to speak to local Police, Volunteers In Policing and of course your local NHW group about how we can work together to reduce motor vehicle related offences.

Drugs seized during North Brisbane traffic operation
Police have located a bag of methamphetamine and detected 20 alleged drug and drink drivers during a major traffic operation on the Bruce Highway at Murrumba Downs over the past two nights.
Around 30 police officers from the Road Policing Command, tactical crime and dog squad as well as general duty officers were involved in Operation Papa York.
Fourteen drivers returned positive results as part of roadside drug tests while police detected six alleged drink drivers.
A 51-year-old man was issued with a notice to appear in the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on December 18 in relation to one count each of possessing a dangerous drug (methamphetamine) and possessing an item used in the commission of a drug offence (glass pipe).
As part of the operation, police utilised number plate recognition technology which assisted in the detection of 19 unlicensed or disqualified drivers, 16 unregistered vehicles and 11 uninsured vehicles.

Unlawful use of motor vehicle charges, Zillmere
Police have charged two men after drugs where allegedly found in a stolen car which had crashed into a tree at Zillmere overnight.
At 3.30am police observed an alleged stolen vehicle on Zillmere Road, Aspley. Police activated lights and sirens however the vehicle sped away. Police stopped on Zillmere Road.
The stolen vehicle turned right into Murphy Road and then left the road and collided with a tree.
Police arrested two men at the scene.
A 21-year-old Lawnton man has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of dangerous drug (Methylamphetamine), fail to stop motor vehicle and unlicenced driving.
A 21-year-old Windsor man has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
It will be alleged the vehicle was stolen from a house in Gaythorne on the October 22.
Both are expected to appear at the Pine River Magistrates Court on October 30.
