North Brisbane District overall crime statistics
North Brisbane District Officer Chief Superintendent Brent Carter today welcomed the release of the Queensland Police Service’s Statistical Review which demonstrated a reduction in break and enters to shops, arson and liquor offences across the district.
The Statistical Review represents a comprehensive insight into the level and nature of crime reported for each police district throughout Queensland.
The overall crime rate across the North Brisbane District from 2015/16 to 2016/17 increased by 4.1 percent to 66,066 offences.
Over the 10 year period from 2007/08 to 2016/17, North Brisbane District recorded a decrease in the rate of offences against the person and against property.
“The overall crime rate of offences against the person over the past 10 years decreased by 21.5 percent and offences against property decreased by 18.5 percent,” Chief Superintendent Carter said.
In 2016/17, unlawful use of motor vehicles increased by 25.9 percent, unlawful entry into houses increased by 26.2
Motorist assaulted, Kedron
Police investigating the assault of a motorist at Kedron yesterday afternoon (Friday, October 13) are attempting to identify a black SUV and its male driver.
The incident occurred around 2.50pm at the intersection of Oliver Street and Leckie Road and involved the male drivers of two vehicles, a 1999 red Holden Jackaroo station wagon and what is believed to have been a black Nissan Dualis (see attached images).
The 24-year-old male driver of the Jackaroo was punched several times to the head and flung to the ground after he had pulled over following an altercation in relation to an overtaking manoeuvre that occurred moments before hand.
The male driver of the black vehicle then kicked and kneed the 24-year-old when he was on the ground, before also kneeing the man’s car. He then returned to his vehicle and drove off, and was last seen travelling north along Leckie Road.

Grievous bodily harm, Bald Hills
Police have charged a 19-year-old man with a number of offences following an incident at Bald Hills yesterday afternoon.
At about 4pm near Bald Hills Road, an altercation occurred between a man and five young males.
It is alleged during this incident, the man was knocked to the ground with a stick and was kicked in the head by one of the males.
When police arrived, the five males attempted to flee the scene, where it is alleged they pushed the officers over then fled on foot.
A short time later, all five males were located and arrested by police.
A 38-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment.
The officers sustained minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.
A 19-year-old Caboolture man has been charged with two counts of serious assault police and one count of grievous bodily harm.

Police officer dismissed, Road Policing Command
A 32-year-old Constable from Road Policing Command has been dismissed from the Queensland Police Service following the finalisation of an internal investigation.
The officer was convicted in the Roma District Court on November 24, 2016 on one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.
The court sentenced the officer to two years imprisonment, wholly suspended.
