Suspicious fire, Geebung

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a scrap metal business in Geebung early this morning.
At around 12:20am officers were called to the address on Newman Road following reports of a fire.
Emergency services attended and extinguished the blaze, which caused extensive damage to a number of vehicles.
No one was physically injured as a result of the fire.
A crime scene has been declared and forensic officers will return to the scene this morning.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area around midnight to contact Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Update: Serious assault, Petrie Terrace

Detectives investigating the serious assault of a man at Petrie Terrace this morning have established an investigation centre at City Station.
At around 4am officers were called to the intersection of Milton Road and Petrie Terrace following reports a man had been assaulted.
It is believed a verbal altercation occurred between two men who were crossing Milton Road, and a man in a vehicle which was travelling inbound on Milton Road. The car stopped and a man exited the vehicle assaulting one of the pedestrians.
Emergency services attended and transported the man, aged in his early 30s, to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition with stab wounds to his abdomen and back.
Police are appealing for the man and the woman, who was travelling with him, to come forward.
