The first Wednesday in May is the night to remember those who have died as a result of domestic and family violence across the country with a candlelight vigil.
The purpose of the Family and Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigils are to bring the community together to remember the women and children who have lost their lives as a result of family violence.
It is also a call to action for individuals to speak out against family violence, and for those experiencing it to seek support.
The Brisbane vigil was a held last night at Kangaroo Point Cliffs and was a combined event of DV Connect, Brisbane Domestic Service, Queensland Police Service (QPS) Australia’s CEO Challenge and Red Rose Foundation.
Acting Assistant Commissioner David Tucker also spoke on behalf of the Queensland Police Service.
The moving event concluded with the launch from the Red Rose Foundation with the video “Deadly Romance” – to view please go to Red
