Here in North Brisbane District we are the caring and considerate type. We know that there are many young people who haven’t yet had a chance yet to get their 60 Seconds Project entries submitted.
We want every young person to be given the opportunity to have their say.
So, after careful consideration we are extending the closing date till 11:59pm January 13 2018.
Now there are no excuses not to have a go at best competition of 2017.
The project calls for community members, under the age of 18, to create a 60 second video on the topic of domestic and family violence.
Thanks to the support of several community policing board members the 60 Seconds Project is offering many spectacular prizes including Apple IPhone 8 (or gift card to the same value for group entries), Apple IPhone 7 (or gift card to the same value for group entries) and an Apple Gift card.

Appeal for witnesses following traffic crash, Kenmore
Police are appealing for witnesses following a traffic crash at Kenmore on December 18.
At around 9.10am a white Holden utility drove out of Kenmore Shopping Centre at the corner of Cedarleigh Road and Marshall Lane onto Moggill Road.
It is believed the vehicle then travelled over the centre median strip and collided with a blue Jeep.
Both cars sustained extensive damage as a result of the crash.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the vicinity at the time and witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have dashcam vision to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.

Traffic incident, Sandgate Road Virginia
Officers from Boondall Police Division are currently investigating a road rage incident that occurred at about 5:45am on Thursday, December 14 along Sandgate Road Virginia.
The two vehicles involved were a silver Mitsubishi Outlander and a red Suzuki motorcycle.
The altercation is alleged to have taken place at several locations along Sandgate Road between Nundah and Virginia, while travelling a in a northerly direction.
Any persons who may have captured dash cam footage of the incident are asked to contact local Police.

Deputy Commissioner Brett Pointing to leave the Queensland Police Service
Deputy Commissioner Brett Pointing has today announced he will leave the Queensland Police Service (QPS) after a 40-year career.
Deputy Commissioner Pointing will take leave from today and officially separate from the QPS in March 2018.
Commissioner Ian Stewart thanked Deputy Commissioner Pointing for his contribution to the QPS.
“Brett has been a valued member of the Executive Leadership Team as deputy commissioner for the past five years and I wish him all the very best for the future, wherever that may take him,” Commissioner Stewart said.
“Brett has taken on a number of significant portfolios over this time and has made a significant contribution to policing in Queensland.”
Deputy Commissioner Pointing said he had enjoyed a policing career which included being stationed in Ipswich, Goondiwindi, Toowoomba, Roma, Rockhampton and the Gold Coast.
“It has been a wonderful career over 40 years,” Deputy Commissioner Pointing said.

Update: Murder charge, Chapel Hill
Police have charged a 36-year-old woman following investigations into the fatal stabbing of a 35-year-old man in Chapel Hill.
It will be alleged around 9pm yesterday an altercation between a man and a woman—who are known to one another—has occurred at a residence on Fig Tree Pocket Road. During this altercation the man sustained a serious injury to the chest.
The man received medical treatment at the scene but passed away as a result of his injuries.
A 36-year-old Chapel Hill woman was taken into custody and has subsequently been charged with one count of murder.
She is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

Homicide investigation, Chapel Hill
Police have commenced investigations into the fatal stabbing of a 35-year-old man in Chapel Hill.
Initial investigations indicate that around 9pm yesterday an altercation between a man and a woman—who are known to one another—has occurred at a residence on Fig Tree Pocket Road. During this altercation the man sustained a serious injury to the chest.
The man received medical treatment at the scene but passed away as a result of his injuries.
A 36-year-old woman was taken into custody and a crime scene declared.

Armed robbery, The Grange
Police are investigating after a man armed with an axe robbed a service station at the Grange this afternoon.
Around 2.30pm a man walked into the business on Days Road and threw a bag on the counter, demanding money and cigarettes.
The man then produced an axe and began swinging it, smashing a computer on the desk.
The store attendant handed over a sum of cash and cigarettes and the man fled the shop along Carroll Crescent.
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
The man is described as having a South American accent and was wearing a black Adidas shirt with white writing, dark coloured shorts and white sneakers.
He had his face covered with what appeared to be a white shirt with the letters “ECKO” written on it in black.

Christmas Road Safety Report: Day 1
3,294 people have been caught speeding in Queensland on day one of the Christmas Road Safety campaign – Festive Break phase.
The state’s most high-risk speeding motorist on day one was captured allegedly travelling at 180 km/hour in an 80km/hour zone in the Airport Link Tunnel at Wooloowin.
The driver will receive an infringement with a penalty of $1,177, eight demerit points and an automatic 6-month suspension.
Police conducted almost 5,000 RBTs (Random Breath Tests) with 72 drivers charged with drink driving.
The worst reading across the state was a 52-year-old Wynnum man who was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, after allegedly returning a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.229 per cent on Old Cleveland Road at Coorparoo yesterday morning.
Officers also conducted 133 RDTs (Roadside Drug Tests) with 41 drivers returning a positive test.

Assault investigation, Chermside
Police are hoping the public can assist with an investigation into an assault at Chermside last week.
Around 4.30pm on Saturday December 16, a 34-year-old local man was walking to Westfield Chermside when he was verbally harassed by a group of young people on Hamilton Road between Kingsmill and Charlotte streets.
The man ignored the harassment and kept walking, however when he approached the intersection of Charlotte Street and Hamilton Road, he was pushed and shoved by a number of people in the group before he was punched in the face a number of times.
The group then fled on foot west towards the McDonald’s Chermside car park.
The man received medical treatment at The Prince Charles Hospital for lacerations, facial and jaw injuries and headaches.
The area around where the assault occurred was busy with people arriving or leaving in vehicles to do Christmas shopping.

Recently there have been numerous reports of vehicles being stolen and or broken into and property removed from vehicles across North Brisbane.
The suburbs targeted were: Zillmere, Geebung, Aspley, Nundah, Wavell Heights, Stafford and Sandgate.
Offenders are breaking into houses and then locating keys for the vehicles inside the house or keys left inside the vehicles.
We have had an increasing trend where offenders are prying open the garage doors to steal cars and property.
Victims are reporting leaving their vehicles unlocked and some with the car keys left inside the vehicle, allowing offenders to then easily remove personal property and steal their vehicle.
Victims are continuing to leave valuable personal items such as wallets, handbags, GPS’s, computers, sunglasses, personal documents and cash in their vehicles, which are then stolen.
