North Brisbane Police remind everyone to beware of scammers
North Brisbane Police often receive reports of local residents falling victim to scams, either online or by unknowingly answering a ‘cold’ call.
Scammers can be sneaky – the cases can be so elaborate and sophisticated that people don’t suspect that they are being conned out of money until it’s too late.
Would you trust a total stranger if they showed endless incentives and niceties, if they were reliable to a point and had you believed in what they were doing was in your best interest?
This is because scammers may show you what you want to see, and hide their predatory behaviour behind a fake investment webpage or a story. Meanwhile, your banking details may be lost to you and your hard-earned money could be stolen by the scammer right before your eyes.
