Bolt action and sweet treats locked in for Monday!

The most pawfect day of the year is on this Monday at Stafford Police Station.
We are of course talking about RSPCA Cupcake Day on Monday August 21 at Stafford Police Station.
This event kicks off at 8am and will go on until 11am or until cup/pup cakes run out!
We will have heaps of sweet treats for you and special snacks for your four legged friends too.

Stafford Police have been officially holding RSPCA Cupcake day since 2014 and found some photos of our first four-legged visitor to our first Cupcake Day event – Police Puppy Bolt who had a pawsome time!

Police Puppy Bolt is now Police Dog Bolt and dropped into Stafford Police Station this week to make sure that Cupcake Day preparations were in order!

Even though Police Dog Bolt is all grown up and a working General Purpose dog, he still suppawts RSPCA Cupcake day!

Drug and Alcohol Coordination Unit at the Ekka

The Drug and Alcohol Coordination Unit are at teh Ekka today. The Unit educates the community through interactive programs such as Drinkrite, Keep it in Focus and school drug education programs. The unit also promotes programs including Party Safe, Bee Safe and Spikeys.

More than just a game

On Saturday, August 12, the Queensland Police Rugby League Association hosted a charity rugby league game to help raise money for the Brett Forte Remembrance Fund.
At 5pm the siren sounded at Carina Football Stadium where 3,500 people came to their feet and cheered on the QPS Dream Team who were lead onto the paddock by Brett Forte’s youngest son, Samuel Forte, and the QPS All Stars Team who were lead out by older brother, Brodie Forte.
Brodie’s coin toss saw the winning call come from the Dream Team Captain, Senior Constable Hayden Lea.
The crowd remained on their feet for a minute silence with Suzie Forte joining the boys on the field.
The refs blew their whistle and the game was underway in earnest.
The Dream Team were directed around the paddock by Queensland legend Scott Prince and scored the first try.

Stafford Police prove saving lives is in their blood by rolling up their sleeves all month long for the Emergency Services Blood Challenge.
The challenge concludes on August 31 so there is still plenty of time yet to get involved!

Keep the drones at home when visiting this year’s Ekka

Police wish to provide the following advice from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) on the recreational use of drones/remotely piloted aircraft in/over Ekka grounds:

No night flying;
No flying over people;
No flying closer than 30m to people laterally;
No flying within 500 meters of a helicopter landing site;
No flying above 400FT at the Ekka as this is a controlled airspace;
No flying beyond visual line of sight – this means the ability to locate, orientate and navigate with the naked eye (no FPV); and
No flying in a manner which could be deemed unsafe or hazardous to people, property or other airspace users.

If a drone is spotted, police will be tasked to locate the owner and their details will be taken and provided to CASA for further investigation.

Deprivation of liberty, Brisbane

Detectives from the Southern Brisbane Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man after an incident involving the alleged deprivation of liberty of a woman using a ride sharing service last night.
Preliminary inquiries indicate around 11pm, the woman was being taken to a Fortitude Valley licensed premises when it is alleged the driver refused to pull over.
It will be further alleged the driver then continued to drive across Brisbane and New Farm for over an hour when the victim became concerned.
The driver is then alleged to have continued to south Brisbane via the Clem 7 Tunnel, driving in a concerning manner.
The victim attempted to get the attention of passing motorists, opening her door in an effort to get the driver to stop before he pulled over on the M1 and the woman called police.
A 45-year-old man from Logan Central has been charged with one count of deprivation of liberty and is

WELCOME TO THE 2017 EKKA

The Exhibition Police Station has opened for business today Day 1 of 2017 Ekka is open for business. We have only just moved in so we are still getting to know the neighbours but the view from the veranda is outstanding.

Over the next 10 days the Brisbane Exhibition Grounds will be visited by over 400,000 people. The Queensland Police Service Exhibition Police Station is located right in the middle for the Brisbane Ekka site at the intersection of King and Gregory Tce. Bowen Hills.
So when you are attending the Ekka please drop by and say hello. I will updated each day as we get to know all our neighbours that make up the Ekka family let you know what has been happening in our neighbourhood.

Fight animal cruelty with cupcakes

In less than two weeks, Stafford Police Station will be hosting their famous Community Cupcake stall in the hopes of raising much needed funding for the RSPCA.
Stafford Police are hoping to beat their fund raising efforts from last year (second place) and hope to take out first place this year for highest fundraising team in Queensland!
Last year Puppy Drago gave his pawsome suppawt, and this year is no different!

Puppy Drago may have grown a fair bit since then but he is always willing to lend a paw when comes to the fight against animal cruelty.

Police close drug trafficking operation

Detectives from the Northern Major and Organised Crime Squad (MOCS) have closed an operation targeting the suspected trafficking of illicit drugs.
Operation Papa Orthograde began in March this year and identified a number of people allegedly involved in a drug trafficking syndicate operating between Townsville and South East Queensland.
Over the past two days, officers from the Townsville Tactical Crime Squad, Northern MOCS and Brisbane’s Drug and Serious Crime Group finalised the operation, which saw 32 people charged with 151 drug-related offences.
Drugs with a street value in excess of $1million were seized and included Ice, MDMA, cocaine and cannabis.
During the investigation police also seized a quantity of cash and weapons.
All of those charged will appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court over the next month.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mick Walker of the Northern Major and Organised Crime Squad said officers will continue to target those engaging in criminal activity in Queensland.
