Chermside locals shared Coffee With a Cop

While a number of people attended the event especially to speak with their local police, many shoppers took the opportunity to stop by and shared a coffee with the local boys and girls in blue.
The event was a wonderful opportunity to allow people to ask questions in a friendly and relaxed environment.
Some of the issues discussed were concerns of home security, local traffic issues and event how to to support their children who are going to schoolies this week.

Our grade 12’s are on their way

Hendra Police had the pleasure of speaking with year 12 students from Mary MacKillop College, Nundah about all things Schoolies and beyond today.
With grade 12 students walking out of school for the last time this Friday, today was a great opportunity to discuss what to expect during Schoolies.
Students experience Schoolies in many different formats, with some attending traditional venues such as the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, but many also opting to travel further afield and even abroad.
Top tips for students heading to Schoolies and other celebrations include:

Caring for yourself and your mental well being – don’t be afraid to walk away, chill out and take care of you if it is all getting too much;
Don’t risk it and call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency;
Respect the community – people still live and work in the places you go to celebrate so be considerate of them; and
Be safe and watch

North Brisbane Police Stations helping fight hunger with Foodbank

Operational police deal with vulnerable people within their communities on a day to day basis, so have a good understanding of the hunger problems that go hand in hand with hardship.
For the second year running, police stations from North Brisbane are extending their community service by collecting non-perishable food for donating. This year the food drive will focus on the devastating effects of long term drought on our farmers and graziers.

The following police stations within North Brisbane have collection boxes for both the QPS staff and officers, and members of the general public to contribute too. Every little bit helps and all stations will be collecting until December 8.

Carseldine Police Station located at 1615 Gympie Road Carseldine
Boondall Police Station located at 149 Muller Road, Boondall
Sandgate Police Station located at 80 Brighton Road, Sandgate

Foodbank is Australia’s largest food relief organisation, operating on a scale that makes it crucial to the work

Hendra Police remind residents to secure their vehicles

Hendra Police are urging residents in the Lutwyche and Nundah areas to pay extra attention to the security of their motor vehicles. Over the weekend, there have been a number of reports of  opportunistic theft from unlocked vehicles in these suburbs.
There are a number of strategies you can use to make your vehicle more secure:

Always lock your vehicle, including the boot and sunroof and fully close all windows;
Remove all valuables from your car – this includes garage remotes and spare house keys;
Park in a well lit and highly visible area;
Always remove keys from the ignition if the vehicle is parked or unattended – even if only for a short time; and
Consider installing one-way, anti-theft screws to your registration plates.

These simple steps, are quick and easy and will help secure your vehicle.

If you have information for police, contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24hrs per
