Police are encouraging residents to ensure their vehicles are locked and secured, especially when parked in and around their home residence.
Between the hours of 5pm and midnight on Sunday September 1, there were seven unlawful entry of motor vehicle offences reported in Cambridge Crescent, Fitzgibbon.
All of these vehicles were left unlocked and it is highly likely that offenders were looking for keys to these vehicles to steal them, and subsequently commit further offences.
The following tips will help reduce the risk of vehicle theft:

If you have off street parking, use it.
If possible, park behind locked gates or in a locked garage.
Remove temptation – always lock doors and close windows when your vehicle is unattended.

Although Queensland Road Safety Week is coming to an end today, it does not mean that police are forgetting all about it, and neither should you.
Our message continues to be vitally important that road safety is everyone’s business and we all have a role to play.

Heading into the weekend, police want to remind community members to continue being safe on our roads while driving long distances.
Did you know that in 2018, 31 people died and a further 472 people were seriously injured in crashes involving fatigue?
Here are some tips to avoid fatigue when driving:

Queensland Road Safety Week at Chermside

You’re never too young to learn about road safety
Police from the Gateway Patrol Group in North Brisbane spent yesterday at Westfield Chermside spreading the word about Queensland Road Safety Week with community members.
Police took the opportunity to remind the public that road safety is everyone’s business and allowed shopper’s to brush up on their road safety knowledge with our road rules refresher quiz.
Shopper’s had the opportunity to sit on a real police motorcycle and in the drivers seat of a marked vehicle.
Which was a big hit, and not just for little one’s.
Thank you to everyone that stopped in to say hi and hear about the ways they can make road safety a priority.

The science behind road safety: Distraction and Inattention

This week is Queensland Road Safety Week and together with Department of Transport and Main Roads, StreetSmarts, we’re committed to putting road safety first. In 2018, 245 people were killed on Queensland roads.
You’ve heard about the Fatal Five but did you know that one in every nine fatalities in 2018 were a result of distraction?

Mobile phones are a distraction in basically every part of our lives.
While they make our lives so much easier in so many ways, they can be deadly on our roads.
Using a mobile phone is a physical, visual, auditory and cognitive distraction. When you’re travelling at 60km/h, looking down at your phone for a mere two seconds can result in you travelling 33.33 metres without looking at the road. That’s 33.3 metres you have travelled blindly, unaware of your surroundings.
Keep distractions to a minimum so you can ensure safer roads for all road users.
The facts:

Driving while using
