Milkshakes anyone?

By now we’re sure you’ve heard of Coffee with a Cop, where members of the community mingle with members of the Queensland Police Service and ask any questions or raise any concerns they may have over a coffee.
On July 2, it was the kids turn to ask questions and our first kids Coffee (Milkshake) with a Cop was held at Taigum Shopping Centre and met with great enthusiasm by around 30 kids who had lots of questions for their local police officer, Acting Senior Constable Mark Aichholzer.
The questions asked were hard hitting including, ‘Why do you wear those clothes?’, ‘Have you ever put a bad guy in jail?’, ‘Do you hide in shopping centres so you can catch the bad guys?, and ‘Do you have a dog to help catch the bad guys?’
There were milkshakes of all flavours being enjoyed by the kids as well as a lot of artistic

On June 3 at 1.16pm, police from the Road Policing Command (RPC) were performing laser speed detection on Pritchard Road, Lytton.
Senior Constable John Bannister from RPC said he heard a motorcycle under heavy acceleration coming towards him and he observed the driver come over the top of an overpass bridge doing triple the speed limit.
“I targeted the motorcycle with my laser speed measurement device and checked it at 180km/hr in a 60km/hr zone,” Senior Constable Bannister said.
“That’s triple the legal speed limit and was placing all road users at serious risk.”
As a result, a 45-year-old Coorparoo man was fined $1,218, lost eight demerit points as well as a six month licence suspension for speeding and fined $417 for failing to attach his number plate in accordance with regulation.
Police want to remind drivers on the fatal five factors, especially leading up to the June/July school holidays when there is

Under eights day at Bracken Ridge State School

On Thursday June 27, the Gateway Crime Prevention team were invited to attend the under eights day at Bracken Ridge State School, along with other emergency services and community based groups.
QPS love having the opportunity to engage with our youngest members of the school communities to talk about how to identify a police officer, what roles police have in our community, and who to go to if they need help.
The under eights had a chance to dress up like a real police officer with police hats, police shirts, load bearing vests, and bullet proof vests, and police are proud to report that everyone was extremely well behaved for the morning.
At the end of the morning after stickers were given out and fingerprints taken, police left the scene with lights and sirens blazing.
Thanks for having us Bracken Ridge State School, we hope you all keep safe.
