Celebrating the end of Ramadan

It was a very chilly and windy morning on Tuesday June 4, however QPS officers joined with the Muslim community at Lutwyche Mosque, Masjid As-Sunnah, to celebrate the end of Ramadan with the Eid prayer and festivities.
There were many eyes watching the moon movements the night before, as it is only when the new moon is sighted that the Ramadan month of fasting comes to an end.

Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr by donning new clothing, having feasts with loved ones and making charitable donations for those less well off, known as Zakat al-Fitr.
QPS officers from Gateway Patrol Groups, and Police Liaison Officers from North Brisbane District joined with the community, and are proud to be continually working on building strong relationships with the Muslim community.
We hope that this holiday brings joy and peace to all those celebrating.
QPS officers from the Gateway Crime Prevention Unit are currently running a 12-month project called

Changing perspectives on property crime – home security

There are often typical circumstances which occur prior to a home being burgled. A burglar will usually act on easy or tempting opportunities, especially when it is evident no one is home or the risk of being caught is low.
What you can do:

Ensure doors are always locked with a key, even when you are home.
Ensure that all external doors, including your garage, of your home are solid and fitted with quality deadlocks.
Consider fitting security screen doors, designed and installed to Australian Standards.
Install a door viewer that allows you to see the person before you open the door.
Fit secure locks to your windows which meet Australian Standards and never leave the keys in the window lock.
Ensure security grills and shutters are properly installed and allow an exit in case of an emergency.
Consider installing an intruder alarm system and security camera system that covers all external doors, windows and garage. Ensure the

Who is Queensland Police Pipes and Drums biggest fan?

Queensland Police Pipes and Drums biggest fan, Tim!
Tim Maloney from the Gap, of course!
Tim is a great fan of the Queensland Police Pipes and Drums (QPP&D) and has managed to see them perform on a few occasions.
Some years ago his mum, Colleen, ordered him a copy of the pipes and drums CD and it has completely worn out from being overplayed.
Colleen reached out to the QPP&D this month to purchase a new one, and boy, did the band deliver!
Despite the CD no longer being available, there were still a couple in the library, so a new CD and a couple of other goodies were packaged up and delivered in time for Tim’s birthday on Wednesday.
It was a fantastic birthday surprise for the band’s biggest fan!
Colleen said that Tim was so excited to receive the parcel and will have many enjoyable hours listening to his CD.
“Thank you very much for making
