Christchurch, we stand with you

Inspector Mark Jones, Police Liaison Officer Amanjot Sharma and Sergeant Stephen Male
Much like Australia, New Zealand is a melting pot of cultures and religions, bringing a diversity and strength that helps shape our countries into the beautiful places that they are.
The tragic events in Christchurch on Friday, March 15 shocked the world.
On that day the lives of so many were changed forever.

Throughout the North Brisbane Policing District, we are privileged to enjoy a strong relationship with our Muslim community through the Masjid Ad-Sunnah Mosque in Lutwyche, and the Masjid Taqwa Mosque in Bald Hills.
In partnership with these mosques, the community and the QPS, officers from Boondall Police Station facilitated the collection of messages of condolences into a specially bound book to be presented to those affected.
This book will be sent to Christchurch and the Muslim community in the hope that the messages contained within its pages will bring some comfort

We’re Empowered in North Brisbane

We’re empowered.
On Saturday April 13, 23 officers from across Brisbane took part in We’re Empowered (WE), the latest community event aimed at bridging the gap and building positive relationships between the Queensland Police Service and local communities.
WE, was the final event in a three phase project which encompassed the Hear me and Empower me (HE) events, the See me, Hear me Empower me (SHE) event and the WE event.
The WE event was attended by over 100 men, women and children.

At the event their were information stalls by Neighbourhood Watch, Youth Advocacy Centre, SES, QFES, and QPS Crime Prevention.
But without a doubt the most popular activities of the day were the police uniform trials and of course the African music and dancing.
This program was held in partnership with the Sudanese and North Sudanese Assembly Support of North Brisbane (SASSAS).

Easter road safety stories – “Never attend another one again”

Unfortunately Easter is a notorious time for road crashes in Queensland.
The QPS with the support of other emergency services is currently coordinating a state-wide traffic policing operation designed to reduce the number of serious injuries, fatal traffic crashes and road related crime.
At the April 5 launch of the Easter road safety campaign Commissioner Stewart said research has shown that a high police presence on major road networks during peak holiday periods provided the community with reassurance and served as a deterrent to those engaging in high-risk behaviour.
“Anyone travelling on the state’s highways can expect to encounter police during this period,” Commissioner Stewart said.
“Officers will be out in force conducting roadside testing for drugs and alcohol, as well as covert and overt speed enforcement in high-risk zones.”
QFES Assistant Commissioner Neil Gallant said that QFES members are trained to respond to traffic incidents, however it is the type of event that is
