Armed robbery, Bowen Hills

Police are investigating a robbery at a supermarket in Bowen Hills.
Just before 7am on Saturday, March 30 a man entered the Breakfast Creek Road store in possession of a large sports bag approached a staff member and demanded cash, threatening that he had a weapon in the bag.
The man fled on foot towards Jordan Terrace.
Police are seeking any witnesses, or people who may have dash-cam footage from that area around that time.
Police investigations are continuing.

Fraud investigation, Line Dancing Events

Police investigating a series of fraud complaints across Queensland relating to line dancing events, have released an image of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.
It is believed the 37-year-old man may have information to help solve fraud offences totalling more than $120,000 with trips organised via a line dancing travel company.
The holidays included group trips overseas and domestically including line dancing festivals, balls and cruises.
Police have received over 70 complaints from members of the public across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast after money was paid but the holiday was cancelled with no refunds provided.
Officers believe there may be more scam victims and are appealing for those who believe they have been affected to contact them.
Anyone who may know of the whereabouts of the man pictured is also asked to contact police.
He is described as Caucasian, 173cm tall with brown hair and hazel

Armed robbery, Nundah

Police have charged a man following an armed robbery in Nundah this afternoon.
Officers were called to a hairdressing salon on Sandgate Road at 1.40pm after a man entered the business and produced a knife.
He demanded money and pushed a female employee into a shelf before stealing a sum of cash from the till and a mobile phone. He then fled the scene.
Woman did not require medical treatment at the scene.
A 46-year-old East Brisbane man was charged with armed robber and obstructing police.
He will appear in Brisbane Magistrate Court tomorrow.

Strangulation and assault offences, Kallangur

Police have charged a man with seven offences including strangulation, assault occasioning bodily harm and serious assault police after officers responded to a triple zero (000) call at a Kallangur home last night (Friday, March 29).
Police attended the home around 10.05pm where they located a woman in her 20s with facial injuries following an alleged serious assault which included her being choked and suffocated.
Following a struggle police arrested a 38-year-old Closeburn man inside the house and placed him the rear of a police vehicle.
It will be alleged a short time later as a police officer opened the car door the man assaulted him several times by punching him about the head, knocking him to the ground, before then fleeing on foot.
Other police chased the man and took him into custody nearby.

Operation Romeo Overture, Fortitude Valley

Police have conducted an operation in Brisbane overnight targeting unsafe use of electric scooters in the Fortitude Valley and Brisbane City Divisions.
Last night, Operation Romeo Overture ran using 30 officers from Fortitude Valley, Brisbane City and Mt Gravatt targeting people using electric scooters in an unsafe manner.
In particular, the operation focused on offences for not wearing a helmet while riding, with a total of 67 Traffic Infringement Notices issued.
A further eight infringements were issued by officers for other traffic related offences including rider distractions.
Officer in Charge of the Fortitude Valley Police Beat, Acting Sergeant Simon Rowe said that their focus was on reducing the amount of unsafe behaviour and potential serious injury by riders doing the wrong thing.

Talking about seniors safety in Brisbane North

Acting Senior Constable Aichholzer and Senior Constable Spurdle.
Senior Constable Carol Spurdle and Acting Senior Constable Mark Aichholzer from the North Brisbane District Crime Prevention Unit, today attended the Brisbane Seniors Expo at the Brothers Rugby Club.
Thankfully the weather was kind to all stall holders and visitors alike, allowing everyone to share information with those who attended.
During the course of the event, police spoke with those who attended about a range of topics including home security, scams and motor vehicle security.
It was great to emphasise the importance of home security, particularly when you’re at home. This is because opportunistic break-ins occur through open or unlocked doors and windows, at any time of the day or night.

Traffic crash, South Brisbane

Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a traffic crash that occurred at the intersection of Peel Street and Merivale Street yesterday.
At about 8:20am, a motorbike and a truck were both turning left from Merivale Street into Peel street.
The rider of the motorbike has lost control of the bike, resulting in the rider falling from the bike and colliding with the rear wheels of the truck.
The 33-year-old male rider was transported to the Princess Alexander Hospital for treatment.
The 49-year-old male truck driver was uninjured.

Drug charges, Park Ridge

Officers from Inala Tactical Crime Squad have charged a man with drug offences following a routine traffic stop at Park Ridge on Tuesday.
Police intercepted a Toyota Corolla sedan on the Mount Lindesay Highway shortly before midday and it will be alleged a subsequent search of the vehicle located two kilograms of methylamphetamine (ICE).
A 25-year-old Park Ridge man was arrested and charged with possession of a dangerous drug and appeared in the Richlands Magistrates Court yesterday where he is due to reappear on May 27

Unlawful prostitution charges, The Gap

Two women have been charged in relation to unlawful prostitution after police raided a business at The Gap on March 26.
Officers from the Ferny Grove Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant on the Waterworks Road premises as part of Romeo Essence, a three month operation aiming to dismantle organised illegal prostitution, including businesses operating under the guise of legitimate massage parlours.
A 32-year-old and 40-year-old women were arrested during the search of the business premises associated with a massage parlour which was located a short distance away from a local school.
The 32-year-old business owner from Sunnybank Hills has been charged with carrying on business of providing unlawful prostitution and four counts of engaging in prostitution through unlawful prostitution business.
The 40-year-old female employee has been charged with engaging in prostitution through unlawful prostitution business.
Both are due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on April 29
