Women celebrating at the latest SHE session.
On Saturday March 23, Police Women from across North Brisbane took part in the latest SHE program.
SHE stands for See Me, Hear Me, Empower Me and is a program that aims to bridge the gap and build positive relationships between the Queensland Police Service and local communities.
This particular SHE session was celebrated with women from local Sudanese and South Sudanese communities.
Sharing cultural food was a highlight of the day.
Throughout the session, the women discussed the many differences that are experienced within their cultures and also identified many similarities.
Police also provided information about the role of police, healthy relationships, personal safety and even traffic tips.
This event was run partnership with the Sudanese and South Sudanese Assembly Support (SASSAS) group of North Brisbane.
In the coming weeks we will be running a HE session which will involve male officers and community members.

Reduce the risk of having your motor cycle stolen
Police from the Gateway Patrol Group are warning motor cycle owners to secure their motor cycles as north Brisbane suburbs have seen an increase of high speed motor cycles being stolen over the last two weeks.
There are a number of things that motorcycle owners can do to reduce the risk of having their motorcycle stolen:
Record the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and engine number, particularly if your motorcycle is unregistered or off road;
Keep your keys on you at all times;
Use microdot technology on all parts of your motorcycle;
Use an ignition or steering lock as well as a helmet lock;
Use a strong, thick chain and lock and keep the chain off the ground to make it harder to cut;
Secure your motorcycle to something solid that can’t be moved;
Consider installing an alarm or other anti theft/immobiliser device;
Garage your motorcycle and lock both;
Use a motorcycle cover; and
Vary your parking habits, park your bike in well
