Behind the scenes, North Brisbane District Police and Police Liaison Officers work with a wide range of communities to ensure a safe and secure place to live.
One particular community group the Queensland Police are fortunate to work with is the North Brisbane SASSAS committee (Sudanese and South Sudanese Assembly Support).
With the Sudanese and South Sudanese community growing in North Brisbane, this committee is a valuable resource for local Police.
The SASSAS committee is made up of a number of elders who work closely with the QPS and the wider community with a common goal of fostering understanding and creating a safe community.

NHW Northgate and Australia Day celebrations at Toombul bowls club

How good is singing the National Anthem and seeing the flag at annual Australia Day events across the country!!
Last Saturday January 26, Crime Prevention and Northgate Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) participated in some Australia Day celebrations at the Toombul Bowls Club.
People in attendance spent much of the morning enjoying a snag on the BBQ, watching an annual tradition of  a ‘pie eating’ competition and chatting to children, parents, grandparents and our local members on a great day.
A fun game of trivia was had by all on the morning including questions such as ‘Do you know how many stars are on the Australian Flag? A) 6 or B) 7?
Do you know the answer without looking at a flag? Well, I’ll tell you, it’s 7.
There was plenty of activity when kids mixed with a police car and a colouring competition to redesign the police logo (just joking).
Thanks Jan for being a police volunteer and helping on the day
