Detectives are seeking assistance of home owners who have CCTV footage of possible offenders in the Ascot/Clayfield area.
Between July 19 and July 20, police have received reports of seven steal from a vehicle offences within the Ascot/Clayfield area.
All of these reported offences occurred during the overnight period, with cash and computer items being targeted, mostly from unsecured vehicles.
Follow-up enquiries reveal that several unknown males have been captured on private CCTV cameras in the Ascot area during these times. However, at this time, these males remain unidentified.
Detectives are urgently seeking assistance from any home owners who may have CCTV footage of the unknown persons either on their home property or within the vicinity.

Police say g’day to students at local Taigum school
On Friday, July 17, Police from North Brisbane attended the first assembly for term three at Taigum State School.
Sergeant Jodie Murray and the Police Liaison Officers from North Brisbane are regular visitors at Taigum State School where they are working with the school community to break down barriers and create strong relationships between the police, teacher, parents and carers, and most importantly the wonderful students of Taigum.
Taigum State School has about 420 primary and prep students.
It was great to say hello to the students including school captains, Multicultural Captain, and the Indigenous captain
These students come from a wide range of backgrounds; forty per cent come from non- English speaking households and about ten per cent identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
In the past few years, the school has had significant enrolments of students from the Middle East, as well as an influx of students from South-East Asia.

Police urge vehicle owners to lock and secure their cars
Following a recent reported theft of a vehicle from a local shopping centre car park, North Brisbane Crime Prevention Officers have conducted ‘Lock It or Lose It’ assessments of cars parked in the same complex.
In a period of one hour, police made assessments of more than 200 vehicles and were shocked to find vehicles left with windows completely down, or half down, valuables left highly visible on front seats, and in two separate vehicles dogs were left unattended with windows half down.
Police would also like to remind vehicle owners about the legalities of leaving dogs unattended in vehicles.
The RSPCA webpage states that “Leaving an animal without appropriate water and shelter is an offence under the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001 and you may be prosecuted.”

North Brisbane Police have joined the Department of Transport and Main Roads to deliver a series of Keeping Seniors Safe presentations to seniors within the Gateway Patrol Group area.

Serious traffic crash, Chermside
On Monday, July 13, police attended a serious one vehicle traffic crash on Kittyhawk Drive, Chermside.
Police allege that the vehicle was witnessed driving at high speeds and the driver failed to take the corner, crashing into a light pole causing the pole to fall across the road.
Witnesses informed police that a man and a woman were allegedly seen running from the crashed vehicle into the surrounding park lands.
Police were able to form a cordon around the park lands, and with the use of the Dog Squad, were able to apprehend the man and the woman who matched the descriptions of the persons seen running from the vehicle.
The vehicle was reported stolen to police earlier on the same day from a Lutwyche shopping centre.
Police further allege that the same vehicle was linked to other offences during the afternoon.

NSW areas added to Queensland border restrictions
New South Wales areas have been added to Queensland border restrictions following the declaration of two new COVID-19 hotspots today.
From midday Tuesday, July 14, anyone who has been in the local government areas of Liverpool or Campbelltown in the past 14 days will not be able to enter Queensland.
The whole state of Victoria also remains a declared COVID-19 hotspot.
Queensland’s border restrictions mean people who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot within the last 14 days will no longer be able to quarantine in Queensland and will be turned away at the state’s border.
Queensland residents who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot can return home but will be required to quarantine in government provided accommodation at their expense.
The Chief Health Officer declared the New South Wales areas as hotspots following a public alert of multiple cases of COVID-19 being traced to the Crossroads Hotel at Casula.

Boondall Station farewells retiring Inspector Mark Jones
Officers and staff from Boondall Police Station have farewelled Inspector Mark Jones following a career of almost 45 years in the Service.
Inspector Jones is officially farewelled by Commissioner Katarina Carroll
Inspector Jones started his career at the young age of 15, following in the footsteps of his father Robert (Bob), who served as a police officer for 37 years.
When asked why he joined the police, Inspector Jones said he had always wanted to help people and make life better for members of the community.
“The Academy cadet program gave me the opportunity to finish my senior education and start with the QPS and it was the best decision I’ve made,” Inspector Jones said.
“My father was a decorated police officer and I’m very proud to have continued in his footsteps.”

North Brisbane Police welcome students back to university with safety talk
Police from North Brisbane Crime Prevention Unit attended James Cook University on Friday for the first “post COVID-19 lockdown” orientation day for their International students.
It was great to meet all of the students from across the globe who are now furthering their education in Brisbane.

Police were able to talk to the students about their own personal safety focusing on:
Being aware of their surroundings
Reducing the fear of crime
Being confident, or appearing to be confident
Developing a safety plan, and having a safety network
Trusting your “gut instincts”
Police also spoke about domestic and family violence, traffic-related rules and fines, home security, vehicle security and safe alcohol consumption.

House fire, Bald Hills
Police are investigating a house fire that occurred in Bald Hills last night.
Around 10.10pm, emergency services were called to a Dombey Street address following reports a house was engulfed in flames.
The three occupants were transported to Prince Charles Hospital for assessment.
A crime scene was declared.
Investigations are continuing into the incident.

House fire, Windsor
Detectives are investigating a fire at a house in Windsor in the early hours of this morning.
Around 1.50am, emergency services were called to a fire at a house on Storkey Street.
One of the three occupants was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with burns to his hands.
The fire caused extensive damage to the house and a crime scene was declared.
Investigations are continuing.
