On Thursday November 29, police from the North Brisbane Domestic and Family Violence Unit will be at Westfield Chermside Shopping Centre.
Between 9am and 9pm on November 29, you will find police alongside the Northside Alliance Against Domestic Violence raising awareness in the community about the impacts of violence.
They will also be on hand to advice on support services to those who have or are currently experiencing violence.
Police will be setup near Kmart and will be joined throughout the day by various different units including the Mounted Unit and police puppies. Details are as below:

5pm, November 29 – at the stall set up outside Kmart.

Recent scams impacting North Brisbane residents
Boondall Police Station Officer in Charge, Senior Sergeant Houston, is urging all Northside residents to be aware of scams which have resulted in victims being defrauded by tens of thousands of dollars.
In these most recent incidents, the scammers have contacted the victims by mobile phone and have stated they were calling from the Australian Tax Office (ATO) and that they owe significant amounts of money.
This type of scam varies slightly from case to case and in some instances the scammers simply leave a phone message asking you to call them back.
In others they speak directly with the victims and the scammers usually indicate the victim has money owing to the ATO. In many cases, the scammer threatens the call taker with an arrest warrant if they do not pay, using intimidation techniques to instil fear in the victim.

Evade police and serious assault, Geebung
Police have charged a 45-year-old Geebung man following an incident in Geebung yesterday.
Police will allege at around 4.30pm they attempted intercept a vehicle in relation to an illegal U-turn at the intersection of Pritchard and Virginia Roads.
The driver allegedly refused to stop and continued to drive dangerously, resulting in a multiple vehicle crash on Bilsen Road a short time later.
The driver was allegedly arrested at the scene of the crash, however, the man damaged the police vehicle and lashed out violently at the officers cutting one officer’s finger, causing wounds to a second officer’s arm and kicking another officer in the jaw.
The man has been charged with one count of wilful damage, three counts of serious assault police whilst adversely affected and one count of possession of a dangerous drug. He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

Brisbane Police to establish LGBTI+ Community Consultative Group
Police from Brisbane Region are in the process of establishing an LGBTI+ Community Consultative Group to build relationships, increase understanding and ensure effective communications between the Queensland Police Service and organisations influential in LGBTI+ communities.
Prior to our first meeting, we would like to find out what the community thinks are the main issues LGBTI people are currently facing and how we can work together to build relationships and make the community a safer place for all.
The survey will be open until December 20 and our first meeting will be set down at the beginning of the new year.
The Community Consultative Group is currently for the Brisbane Region only, but many of the organisations attending will also service the entire state.

Armed robbery charges, Bridgeman Downs and Spring Hill
Two people have been charged following investigations into two armed robberies in Brisbane overnight, including a burger store in Bridgeman Downs.
At around 8.20pm, it will be alleged a man walked into a burger store on the corner of Becketts Road and Saturn Crescent and threatened two female attendants with a knife, while demanding money.
The staff complied with the demands and the man left with a sum of cash.
It will further be alleged, at around 9.45pm, a man matching a similar description walked into a bottle shop on Leichardt Street, Spring Hill armed with a knife.
The man proceeded to make demands for money from the male attendant who complied, and the man left the address, allegedly with a sum of cash.
At around 3am, a vehicle was intercepted by police at Kedron and three men were taken into custody.
A 20-year-old Wavell Heights man and a 21-year-old Kedron man have both been charged
Wordly Women’s Event: Meet, greet and eat afternoon
QPS will be joining the council and multiple community groups for the bi-monthly Wordly Women’s Event this Saturday at the Zillmere PCYC.

Foodbank drive drop off now at Sandgate Police Station
This is the second year Queensland Police Service have partnered with Foodbank, and our first year opening the Foodbank Drive up to the general public.
The drive will run from November 1 to December 7.
As much or as little as you are able to give will be very much appreciated.
All donations can be dropped of Monday – Friday 8am -4pm.
Sandgate Police Station along with Albany Creek and Carseldine are asking to fill only a few boxes each station, so share the love this Christmas and please join with us to donate any non-perishable food items to Foodbank.

Serious traffic crash, Bald Hills
Police are investigating a serious traffic crash that occurred in Bald Hills this morning.
Initial information suggests that a motorcycle was travelling southbound on Gympie Arterial Road at 6.30 this morning when it collided with a car and then a guard rail.
A 37-year-old man riding the motorcycle was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with serious head injuries.
The 41-year-old woman driving the car did not receive any physical injuries as a result of the crash.
Police are appealing to anyone that might have been in the area and witnessed the crash or has a dash cam to contact them.
The Forensic Crash Unit are continuing to investigate.
Update: Traffic related incident, projectile fired – Redbank Plains
Ipswich detectives investigating a traffic incident in which a projectile was fired into a car at Redbank Plains on October 29 have released details of a vehicle of interest.
A verbal altercation occurred around 3.15pm on Monday, October 29 between the drivers of two vehicles on Henty Drive, Redbank Plains.
Following the altercation one of the vehicles followed the other to nearby Jack Drive. The first vehicle pulled over and police will allege the second vehicle fired a projectile, hitting the tyre of the first car.
The offending vehicle then sped off.
Police have released CCTV vision of the Mazda 3, see below link.
No one was physically injured, and police investigations are continuing.
