Drugs and weapons charges, Clear Mountain

Two people have been charged after police uncovered dangerous drugs, cash and weapons during the search of a Clear Mountain residence yesterday.
A search warrant was executed at the Clear Mountain Road address around 10am on October 20, during which it will be alleged officers located more than 12 thousand dollars in cash as well as methylamphetamine, a silencer and a device similar to a taser.
Police also located chemicals including a large quantity of iodine and hydrochloric acid.
A 30-year-old Clear Mountain man and a 33-year-old Eatons Hill woman were taken into custody at the scene.

Update: Suspicious school fire, Morningside

Police have charged a boy following investigations into a suspicious fire at a Morningside school on October 16.
An emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act was declared on the day of the fire with traffic control put in place at Thynne Road and Stephens Street.
A 16-year-old boy was charged yesterday with one count of arson and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Investigations into the incident are continuing with police asking members of the public who may have seen any suspicious activity in the vicinity to contact them.

Attempted murder appeal, Mango Hill

Detectives have released vision of a vehicle believed to be linked to an incident last week where a man was stabbed at Mango Hill.
The 46-year-old man attended a property on Lamington Road around 12.30pm on October 10 when his vehicle was prevented from passing by a white hatchback parked on the roadway with a man standing beside it.
The victim exited his vehicle to speak with the man when another two vehicles pulled up behind, blocking him in as the man approached him armed with a knife.
Investigations indicate at this point the man lunged at the victim a number of times, striking him in the torso.
The victim grabbed a metal pole, using it on his attacker and hit him a number of times, injuring him before he entered the white hatchback.
The man drove from the scene with the other two vehicles following behind.

Suspicious behaviour, Murrumba Downs

Police are investigating after a man approached a 12-year-old girl in Murrumba Downs on Monday morning.
At around 7:40am the girl was walking along Duffield Road when the girl was approached by a man in a vehicle.
The man threatened the girl before fleeing the scene when the girl ran. He was last seen driving south along Duffield Street.
The girl was not physically injured during the incident.
The vehicle is described as a small blue car.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance and aged in his late 40s or early 50s.
Anyone with information or dash cam vision from the area on Monday is urged to contact police.
Investigations are continuing.

Police fun at the Sandgate sunset run

On Saturday October 13, police spent the wet and rainy afternoon in the company of many of Sangate’s finest athletes, participating in the annual sunset run.
The police team included officers from Fortitude Valley, Ferny Grove and Boondall and Constable Clancy the Koala even made a special appearance, running with a bounding gallop to complete the social relay race.
All in all, it was a great event and police enjoyed taking part in such a good spirited event, even if they did get a little bit wet!
So much fun was had by young and old that police are looking forward to running again next year, let’s just hope it’s not quite as wet!
Congratulations to everyone from the community who came along and showed their support for local charities, police were pleased with the crowd and everyone’s attendance.

Sexual assault charges, Chermside

Detectives from the North Brisbane Criminal Investigation Branch investigating allegations of sexual assault at a Chermside medical facility have charged a man.
It will be alleged a 26-year-old woman was assaulted at the facility today.
A 50-year-old Carindale man has been charged with one count each of rape and sexual assault.
He is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Update – Attempted armed robbery, Darra

Detectives investigating the attempted armed robbery of a Darra supermarket last week have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak with over the incident.
Around 7.30pm on Tuesday, October 9 the man entered the Monier Road store carrying a machete.
At the time several employees who observed the man enter the store were able lock themselves in a store room.
The armed man attempted to access the locked room however was unsuccessful and fled a short time after.
Investigators have released CCTV images of a man described as being approximately between 180-190cm tall, with a dark complexion, sold build, wearing dark boots, dark long pants, orange hi-vis jacket with a hoodie and carrying a machete.

Update – Death investigation, Mount Gravatt East

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a 33-year-old man at a Mount Gravatt East residence overnight.
Around 9.30pm officers attended the Hoff Street residence where the man was located deceased.
A crime scene has been declared and investigations by detectives and forensic officers are continuing.
Detectives are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

You’re invited to a safe schoolies presentation, North Brisbane

Safe Schoolies 2017 presentation.
It’s your last chance to book in for the North Brisbane District ‘Safe Schoolies 2018’ presentation being held this week.
Parents and carers are invited to come and meet with a number of guest speakers who will be providing information about what their children can expect to encounter during schoolies celebrations.
