Attempted robbery, Norman Park

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the alleged attempted robbery of a man at Norman Park yesterday afternoon.
Around 5.10pm, it will be alleged a man entered a Hyundai sedan that was stopped at the intersection of Bennetts Road and Wynnum Road.
He then is alleged to have attempted to steal the car threatening the male driver and sole occupant.
The male owner of the vehicle was able to drive away and contact police. He was not physically injured.
Officers arrived a short time later and arrested the man after a brief struggle before he was taken to hospital.
A 40-year-old Balmoral man has been charged with attempted robbery and assault police.
He is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.

Robbery, Woolloongabba

Detectives are investigating following a robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle incident in Woolloongabba this morning.
Around 2.15am a 37-year-old man was driving a 2011 Toyota Corolla along Ipswich Road when a vehicle stopped behind his car at a red light on Hawthorne Street.
A male passenger and driver exited the vehicle and approached the victim’s door.
The pair then threatened the driver before dragging him from the car and fleeing the scene in both vehicles.
No one was physically injured during the robbery.
The stolen vehicle is described as a white 2011 Toyota Corolla with Queensland registration 506 XTO.
Investigators are appealing for anyone with information or dash cam vision from the Woolloongabba areas between 2am and 2.30am to contact police.

Outrun police lawfully at Cops and Robbers Parkrun, Sandgate

2017 Cops and Robbers Parkrun.
This Saturday October 6 is the annual ‘Cops and Robbers’ parkrun, which will be held at Sandgate Parkrun, Arthur Davis Park, Sandgate from 6.30am.
The 5km run along the Sandgate Foreshore starts at 7am.
Parkrun is a free event held every Saturday for people of all fitness levels and abilities.
The run is an opportunity for us to connect with the community and to highlight police health, both physical and mental.
Members of the public are invited to dress up in their best ‘robbers’ outfit while police will be running in a variety of uniforms – with some running in their full kit!
It’s a great morning where the community can ask questions and speak to police about issues, as well as becoming a police officer!
So come along and walk, run, hop or skip your way along 5kms and try and outrun police… lawfully!

Armed robbery, Zillmere

Detectives are investigating the armed robbery of a convenience store in Zillmere early this morning.
At around 2:15am a man entered the business on Handford Road armed with a handgun.
The man demanded money from a male staff member before fleeing the scene in the company of a second man, who had been waiting outside the store while the robbery occurred.
The two men were last seen running north along Hanford Road.
No one was physically injured during the robbery.
One of the men is described as approximately 180cm tall and wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and jeans.
The other man is described as being approximately 170cm tall, of a solid build and wearing a dark hoodie with cream shorts.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.

Robbery with violence, Parkinson

Detectives investigating after a man and woman were threatened with a knife and their car stolen at Parkinson home this afternoon have released CCTV images of a man they believe can assist their inquiries.
Around 5.15pm a man jumped the back fence of an Albert Place residence before entering and confronting the occupants inside.
The man then armed himself with a knife before threatening the pair and demanding keys to a Toyota Corolla which he then fled in.
No one was injured during the incident.
The vehicle was located dumped an hour later in the carpark of a Browns Plains Road shopping centre at Browns Plains.
Initial investigations indicate the man was picked up by a yellow vehicle also believed to have been stolen and last seen travelling into Grand Plaza Drive.
As part of investigations to identify the man any members of the public who may have witnessed the incident are asked to contact police.

Updated – Statement on Constable Peter McAulay condition

The Queensland Police Service has confirmed that Constable Peter McAulay will be moved from Princess Alexandra Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit to a specialised ward tomorrow after showing encouraging signs of improvement.
Peter is now listed as stable, however will require intensive treatment for critical injuries received at Booval last week.
Thank you very much to the community for your support and well wishes for Peter, his family, friends and colleagues.
At the moment, the focus of family, friends and colleagues is on Peter and his ongoing treatment, we ask that the media respect their privacy at this very difficult time.

Shooting incident, New Farm

Detectives are investigating a shooting incident at a New Farm unit complex earlier this evening.
Around 6.50pm officers were called to a Bailey Street unit where a woman was located inside with a suspected gun shot wound to her leg.
The 39-year-old woman was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with a non-life-threatening injuries.
A crime scene was declared at the premises.
Police are appealing for any witnesses of suspicious behaviour in the area or any motorists who may have captured dash cam footage in the vicinity around the time of the incident to come forward.

Police busy preparing for Riverfire 2018

Police are busy preparing to ensure one of Brisbane’s biggest events, Riverfire, is safe and secure for everyone heading out to watch the fireworks spectacle.
Superintendent Virginia Nelson, the Riverfire Commander, said that around half a million people were expected to line the riverbanks for the celebration.
“We are well-versed in planning and preparing for major events, and Riverfire is no exception,” Superintendent Nelson said.
“We will have extra police on patrol throughout the city, South Bank, Kangaroo Point and other vantage points across Brisbane.
“I am urging everyone coming into the city tomorrow to allow extra travel time, remembering that major road and bridge closures will come into effect from Saturday afternoon. Public transport will be your best option.
“Riverfire spectators should also drink responsibily and only within designated areas.
“Everyone heading to Southbank should be aware that it will be fenced off and drinking alcohol there is not permitted.

Wounding, Chermside

Police are investigating after a man sustained stab wounds during an altercation at Chermside last night.
It is alleged a man attended a Wallace Street address around 7.30pm, forced entry into the home and grabbed a knife.
He then became involved in a physical altercation with a 20-year-old man who he allegedly stabbed a number of times in the chest and shoulder.
The two men are known to each other.
The man attempted to flee the scene however police arrested him upon arrival.
Both men were transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for further treatment, the victim in a stable condition.
A 21-year-old Northgate man is assisting police with their inquiries.
Investigations are continuing.
