Sweetest day of the year at Stafford!

On Thursday August 9, Stafford Police will be hosting their famous community Cupcake Day stall to help fight animal cruelty by raising much needed funds for the RSPCA.
It will be a day of delicious treats, and we hope you can join us:
Where: Out the front of the foyer at Stafford Police Station, 88 Webster Road, Stafford
When: 7am-4pm, Thursday, August 9
Make sure to drop by and grab some delicious cup (human friendly) and pup (doggy friendly) cakes in exchange for a donation of your choice.
We will have lots of cupcakes and pup-cakes on offer and well behaved pups are most welcome to visit us too!
Police Puppy JoJo sniffed out some doggy treats that we will have on offer at our Cupcake stall – tails will be wagging!

Historical indecent treatment charges, North Brisbane

Detectives have charged a man with indecent dealing relating to incidents that allegedly occurred in the North Brisbane area in the 1990s.
It will be alleged a man inappropriately touched a girl known to him.
Police believe the man previously worked in the Clayfield, Virginia and Nudgee as a swimming and triathlon coach.
A 55-year-old man has been charged with three counts of indecent dealing with a child under the age of 16 and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 4.

Strong family relationships event, Stafford

On Saturday July 28, the Queensland Police Service (QPS) and the Sudanese community came together to have conversations about parents, children and families in the community and how the law impacts on family values.
The QPS and Zillmere Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) were recently awarded a grant from the Minister for Children Safety, Youth and Women to host two forums for the Indian and Sudanese Community, addressing Healthy relationships in their communities and ‘Connecting diverse women’.
At the forum, police spoke about domestic and family violence issues and drug and alcohol awareness.
PCYC representatives spoke about their ‘Braking the Cycle’ program which addresses young people attempting to get their 100 hours driving experience to obtain their license and attending the program at the PCYC to assist with making this happen.

Robbery investigation, Keperra

Ferny Grove detectives investigating the alleged robbery of a man at Keperra on July 28 have released images of three males who may be able to assist them with their investigations.
Around 7.45pm on Saturday evening a 41-year-old local man was walking south along Dawson Parade when he was approached by three teenagers, with one of the group punching the man in the head before they stole his wallet and mobile phone.
The trio were last seen running north along Dawson Parade and through a local park located behind the state school, where they met up with three other teens.
All three are described as aged in their mid-teens, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance and around 168cms tall with proportionate builds.

Update: Charge – homicide investigation, Mango Hill

Brisbane detectives have charged a 50-year-old man with murder following the discovery of a woman’s body at Mango Hill yesterday.
Police were called a Topaz Drive address around 1pm where they located a 75-year-old Mango Hill woman deceased inside the house.
A 50-year-old Rothwell man was arrested at the scene before being transported to hospital for treatment to serious injuries sustained prior to the arrival of police.
Detectives attended the hospital this morning where the man was charged with murder. He is due to appear at a bedside hearing today.
The man and woman were known to each other.

Drink driver caught in school zone, Spring Hill

‘Anywhere, Anytime’ includes school zones at 2pm on a Thursday afternoon as one Brisbane driver found out when he was detected allegedly not only speeding but driving at more than three times the legal limit.
Officers from the Brisbane City Road Policing Unit were conducting traffic operations in a Gregory Terrace school zone when they detected a 4WD allegedly speeding at nearly twice the posted limit (76km/hr in a 40km/hr zone) yesterday.
Police will further allege the male driver, when directed by police to pullover his vehicle, put his vehicle into reverse and collided with the car behind him.
Superintendent Dave Johnson, Road Policing Command said dangerous driving behaviour which places the lives of Queenslanders at risk is one hundred per cent unacceptable and police remain committed to finding these drivers and taking them off our roads.
A 39-year-old Newport man is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 22 charged

Armed robbery, Fortitude Valley

Police are investigating following the armed robbery of a convenience store in Fortitude Valley this morning.
Around 2.20am a man entered the Ann Street business, approached a 28-year-old male shop attendant and produced a weapon resembling an electric conductive device.
He then demanded the attendant hand over the store till.
The attendant complied, and the man fled the shop carrying the till tray which contained a sum of cash.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 165cms tall with a solid build and was wearing light coloured shorts, a dark t-shirt and a green army camouflage balaclava covering his face.
It is believed the man may have also been travelling in a silver Holden Astra (pictured).
Police are appealing for anyone with further information regarding the incident to come forward.
Police have released images of a man who may be able to assist us with our enquiries.

Armed robbery charges, Bald Hills

Police have charged a man and a girl following an alleged armed robbery at Bald Hills on July 29.
It is alleged at about 9.30pm, three males and a female approached a man at Bracken Ridge and asked him to drive them to Pelleas Street, Bracken Ridge where they removed a quantity of property from a car at that location.
If is further alleged the man then drove the three males and the female to a carpark in Miles Street Bald Hills.
It is alleged at Miles Street, one of the males produced a knife and demanded the man’s car keys and car.
The man handed over his car keys and wallet where it is alleged the males and the female then fled the scene in the man’s car.
On August 1, police arrested and charged a man and a girl in relation to this matter.
A 24-year-old Woodridge man is charged with one count each

Stolen bicycles, Hendra

Police from the Boondall Tactical Crime Squad, executing a search warrant on July 26 at an address in Hendra, have uncovered a number of bicycles and bicycle parts suspected of being stolen.
The bicycles are currently being stored at the Hendra Police Station property office and we would like your help in returning them to their rightful owners.
The bicycles range in value and colour with brands including, but not limited to Scott, Norco and Giant Black.

Update: traffic crash, Chermside

A 22-year-old Stafford Heights man critically injured after being struck by a car at Chermside on July 31 passed away in hospital last night.
Preliminary investigations indicate the man was crossing the northbound lanes of Gympie Road around 3pm when he was hit by a vehicle.
Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.
The driver, a 46-year-old woman was not physically injured.
