A man is assisting police with their inquiries after allegedly deliberately driving a stolen vehicle into a marked police vehicle before crashing into a tree at Balmoral this morning.
Around 1.45am police observed a stolen vehicle stationary on a Barron Street driveway at Gordon Park. As police stopped their vehicle in front of the ute the driver allegedly drove at them, hitting the front side of the vehicle before speeding off.
Police followed the vehicle through Stafford and into the Airport Link tunnel where it exited onto Montpelier Road before heading north on Sandgate Road.
The vehicle travelled through Clayfield, Woolowin and Gordon Park before heading south on Abbotsford Road where a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed in Bowen Hills at 2.27am.
The vehicle continued south through the Clem 7 Tunnel taking the Shafston Ave exit before crashing into a tree on Riding Road in Balmoral at 2.32am.
The driver and sole occupant fled
