Historical indecent treatment charges

Detectives from the Boondall Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) flew to Alice Springs earlier this week and successfully extradited a 65-year-old man to Queensland to face 65 charges of historical sex offences against a child.
It will be alleged the offences occurred against a girl, who was under the age of 17, between 1999 and 2008 in Brisbane and Far North Queensland.
The man was arrested by Northern Territory Police on March 23 after they intercepted him on a bus in Erldunda that was travelling to Alice Springs.
The 65-year-old Innisfail man appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday, March 28.
Officer in Charge of Gateway CPIU, Detective Senior Sergeant Stephen Stanton praised the dedication of all officers involved, including the Northern Territory Police.
“We place the highest priority on these sensitive investigations and it has been a collaborative effort nationally to ensure the pursuit of this person never stopped,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stanton
