The weather is heating up and the storm season is coming. The risk to life and property when hazards are not accounted for cannot be underestimated.
So, for those on the Northside it’s time to familiarise ourselves with those places that may be dangerous during severe storms or rain events. You may encounter those places when out driving.
The following locations are local areas known to flood in heavy rain and storms and quite often motorists are seen taking unnecessary risks entering the flood waters leaving emergency services to fish them out.
Widdop Street, Clayfield/Nundah;
Shaw Road, Kallangur;
Collingwood Street, Albion;
Noble Street near Edmund street, Windsor;
Zillmere waterholes, Groth Road and Zillmere Road, Zillmere;
Gympie Road, Kedron (near Arnotts);
Church and Roghan Road, Taigum;
Flinders Parade, Sandgate; and
Gympie Arterial Road, Carseldine (near the service station).
Police are urging motorists to stay away from these areas in times of significant rain.
