Detectives from the Boondall Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) are investigating the death of a young girl at Northgate yesterday as part of Operation Papa Belvedere.
Just before 3.30pm, police were advised that a 2-year-old girl had been located unconscious in a home in Ridge Street with serious injuries, including significant burns.
The girl was taken to the Lady Cilento Hospital but sadly died overnight.
An Investigation Centre has been set up at the Boondall Police Station.
Police are working to establish the circumstances surrounding her death and the injuries she sustained.
