A defence engineering facility in Banyo has more than doubled in size less than a year after opening, with Nova Systems expanding its National Systems Integration Centre to meet growing demand from Defence, aerospace, and emergency services clients.

The larger centre will increase the company’s capacity to design, integrate, test and manufacture mission-critical systems, adding to its existing Brisbane operation in Fortitude Valley.
Nova Systems opened its National Systems Integration Centre near Brisbane Airport in October 2025 as a dedicated facility for systems integration work. The expanded operation is now based in a facility more than twice the size of the original.
Expanding capability in Banyo
The enlarged centre will support production linked to a stretcher-loading system developed by Nova Systems for the Royal Flying Doctor Service Queensland fleet. It will also support specialist mission integration projects involving organisations including StarFlight and the Royal Australian Navy’s Aircraft Maintenance and Flight Trials Unit.
Nova Systems chief executive Dean Rosenfield said the expansion reflected increasing demand for locally delivered systems integration expertise. The company said the additional space would allow it to scale its operations while continuing to develop Australia’s sovereign engineering and advanced manufacturing capability.
The larger facility provides increased space for systems integration, testing, prototyping, production and customer engagement activities. It also strengthens Nova Systems’ ability to support systems integration projects across stages including concept development, design, testing, certification, production and sustainment.
The expansion comes as Queensland promotes further defence industry growth and investment through Defence Q. It’s designed to connect defence businesses with public agencies, strategic partners, supply chains, suitable locations and investment opportunities. The initiative also focuses on advanced manufacturing, testing and evaluation and the development of high-tech defence systems.
In a LinkedIn post announcing the expansion, Nova Systems described the larger centre as a milestone for its team and customers, saying it would increase capacity to deliver mission-critical systems. The company said growing demand for systems integration expertise had driven the decision to expand.

The expanded Banyo facility will provide additional capacity for projects ranging from the Royal Flying Doctor Service Queensland’s stretcher-loading system to specialist mission integration work involving StarFlight and the Royal Australian Navy’s Aircraft Maintenance and Flight Trials Unit.
