On Sunday, June 3, officers from across Brisbane Region had the opportunity to visit and engage with the Sikh Community at the Singh Sabha Brisbane (Sikh Temple), Taigum.
The purpose of the visit was to help break down barriers between the service and the Sikh community.
Senior Sergeant Kerry McKay said police were committed to inclucivity.
“The recent appointment of Punjabi Police Liaison Officers Aman Sharma and Ricky Lashand has also generated more learning opportunities about this rich and vibrant community,” Senior Sergeant McKay said.
Local Champion and Committee Member Parminder Singh introduced officers, Volunteers in Police (ViPs), Police Liaison Officers (PLO) and service providers to attendees after prayers.
“We really appreciate the QPS and their staff taking the time on their weekend to provide important information to our community,” Mr Singh said.
“We as a community feel privileged to be able to have a strong rapport with our friends in blue.”
