Policelink hold mental health awareness day

On the February 7, Policelink hosted a mental health awareness morning tea for members of Community Contact Command.

This was an opportunity for staff members and officers to gain insights into the impacts of mental health and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Joy Jackson, HSO for Community Contact Command provided an insightful Black Dog presentation highlighting how mental health in the workplace is everybody’s business.
The keynote speaker for the day was Petero Civoniceva, former Australian Rugby league, State of Origin, Bronco’s player.
Mr Civoniceva is a community ambassador in encouraging positive attitudes and behaviours when it comes to leading a healthy life.
He spoke openly about his personal challenges, maintaining good mental health, looking out for his team mates and the importance of giving back to the community.
Superintendent David Tucker said these education opportunities were important for Policelink given the nature of the work.
