Reduce the risk of having your motor cycle stolen

Police from the Gateway Patrol Group are warning motor cycle owners to secure their motor cycles as north Brisbane suburbs have seen an increase of high speed motor cycles being stolen over the last two weeks.
There are a number of things that motorcycle owners can do to reduce the risk of having their motorcycle stolen:

Record the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and engine number, particularly if your motorcycle is unregistered or off road;
Keep your keys on you at all times;
Use microdot technology on all parts of your motorcycle;
Use an ignition or steering lock as well as a helmet lock;
Use a strong, thick chain and lock and keep the chain off the ground to make it harder to cut;
Secure your motorcycle to something solid that can’t be moved;
Consider installing an alarm or other anti theft/immobiliser device;
Garage your motorcycle and lock both;
Use a motorcycle cover; and
Vary your parking habits, park your bike in well
