In March 2019, officers from North Brisbane initiated the Sisters Stepping Forward project.
Sisters Stepping Forward is aimed at bridging the gap, establishing strong relationships, enhancing awareness and sharing knowledge between Muslim women, the QPS and the wider community.
On Monday August 26, our third official event was held at the Lutwyche mosque.
The event was attended by multiple external partner agencies including different QPS sections including Crime Prevention, Engagement and Diversion Program, Police Liaison Officers, Volunteers In Policing, and sisters from the Lutwyche mosque community.
The women were able to share stories, and experiences, a few laughs and tears, and share delicious food from many different cultural backgrounds.
The Sisters Stepping Forward project is a 12 month project, with the next official event being held on Wednesday October 9 from 5.30pm-7.30pm at the Lutwyche Mosque, with the topic of women’s health.
