Three new businesses are headed for Nundah Village, with a pizza shop, European-style patisserie and kitchen design showroom confirmed for the Danby Lane development now taking shape off Sandgate Road.
Johnny Gio’s Pizza, Cerin Pasticceria and Style Kitchens by Design are the first retailers announced for the project at 5 Danby Lane. Their arrival will add to the existing mix of cafés, restaurants, shops and businesses around the village, while one retail tenancy at the development remains to be filled. Gardner Vaughan Group announced the line-up on 21 September as construction continued on the mixed-use project, which is expected to be completed in mid-2027, subject to weather.
Pizza, Pastries and Style Join The Village mix
Johnny Gio’s Pizza is set to bring handcrafted pizzas and Italian flavours to the precinct. Cerin Pasticceria will focus on artisan pastries, specialty coffee and handcrafted desserts drawing on traditional European patisseries. Style Kitchens by Design will occupy another tenancy with a showroom for kitchen and interior design, giving the retail component a mix extending beyond hospitality.
The businesses will operate from the lower levels of Danby Lane, placing them within walking distance of the established Nundah Village centre. Shops, dining venues and other businesses are already clustered around Sandgate Road, while the wider area includes a number of parks and public transport connections.
Gardner Vaughan Group commercial director Sam Gardner said the retail mix had been planned to serve both people living in the development and the wider Nundah area. Street-level retail has been built into the project from the outset, with the lower podium designed to open towards the village through shopfronts, landscaping and pedestrian-facing spaces rather than functioning solely as the entrance to the apartments above.
One Shopfront Still To Come
Danby Lane will contain 93 apartments across 12 storeys, with construction having started in February 2025. More than 75 per cent of the residential component had been sold when the first retailers were announced.
Resident facilities planned for the building include a gym, outdoor pool deck, function room and rooftop recreational areas. The project also provides resident and visitor parking.
Its location places the new businesses within an established neighbourhood centre rather than a standalone retail complex. Nundah Village already combines food, retail and services around a pedestrian-oriented local centre, while nearby transport links connect the suburb with Brisbane’s CBD, airport and surrounding areas.
Johnny Gio’s Pizza, Cerin Pasticceria and Style Kitchens by Design account for three of the retail spaces now confirmed at Danby Lane. The final tenancy has not yet been announced, leaving one more addition to Nundah Village’s new retail line-up before the development is due to open in 2027.
