Police have charged a man following the alleged assault of a police officer in Kelvin Grove on April 16.
The 44-year-old senior sergeant was patrolling on Kelvin Grove Road at 11.10pm when he noticed a man allegedly walking in the path of traffic.
The officer intercepted the man and proceeded to speak to him near Musk Avenue when the man became agitated.
The officer advised the man he was being placed under arrest due to his behaviour and attempted to handcuff him.
It will be alleged the man struck the officer and pushed him to the ground before fleeing the scene on foot.
The officer suffered an injury to his elbow as a result of the assault but did not require further medical treatment.
A 21-year-old Loganholme man voluntarily attended Brisbane City Police Station this afternoon.
He has been issued with a notice to appear in Brisbane Magistrate’s Court on May 9 charged with one count each of assault
