Spike in unlawful entry of motor vehicle offences in North Brisbane

Intelligence officers in North Brisbane have detected a recent spike in the number of vehicles that have been unlawfully entered, and number plates being stolen from parked vehicles.
Between June 23 and July 7, there have been 25 unlawful entry of motor vehicle offences reported in the Boondall and Sandgate police divisions.
Of these 25 offences, 14 included stealing of number plates, all of which are still under investigation.
It will be alleged that six of those number plate offences are linked, as they occurred in Chermside overnight between June 27 and June 28.
On June 28, one of the stolen plates from Chermside, Qld rego: YLT67T, was allegedly involved in a
dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and evade police incident, nearly hitting a police officer conducting traffic control in Brisbane City.
These plates were attached to a Black Toyota Sedan, unknown model.
