New Adopt-a-Cop for Northgate State School

Northgate State School welcomed Detective Sergeant Frank Jefferies as their new Adopt-a-Cop last Friday.
Detective Sergeant Jefferies officially took on the role of Adopt-a-Cop in front of an audience of students, teachers and parents.
Also in the audience was Queensland first ever Adopt-a-Cop – Inspector Michael Volk.
Inspector Volk was adopted by Northgate State School on the  June 17, 1985 and was a pioneer for the program which now sees almost 1000 Adopt a Cops performing duties around Queensland schools.

Today’s adoption ceremony paid tribute to Inspector Volk and the school’s history as well as acknowledging how education and policing have both changed over the years.
The Adopt-a-Cop program is an awesome opportunity for students and police alike.
Not only do police get to speak to students about safety and law issues, but students often help police better understand how to relate and work with youth in our communities.
