Proactive police patrols in Lutwyche lead to arrest

On Sunday, May 31, police from Stafford Police Station were conducting proactive patrols in the Lutwyche area when they intercepted a vehicle for the purpose of a licence check and a random breath test of the driver.
The male driver allegedly displayed signs indicative of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and as a result the man was detained for the purpose of a search of person and vehicle. The man allegedly attempted to start the vehicle in an attempt to drive away from police.
The man was arrested and police searched both the vehicle and the driver. It will be alleged that a handgun, extensive amount of ammunition, quantity of Australian currency, mobile phones, and medium size clip seal bag containing white crystal substance were located as a result of these searches.
