North Brisbane Police have seen a recent increase in the number of thieves who are targeting motorcycles with no additional security devices and other vehicles with property in clear view.
We are seeking your assistance in ensuring that your motorcycle or motor vehicle is secured at all times and offer you the following crime prevention tips:
Motorcycles
Use an ignition or steering lock in combination with other security devices (disc lock)
Secure your motorcycle to a solid fixed point with a strong thick chain and lock (keep the chain off the ground to make it harder to cut)
Install an alarm or other anti-theft/immobiliser device such as a disc lock brake
Park in well lit areas
Keep your keys on you at all times
Use microdot technology on all parts of your motorcycle for identification
Other vehicles
Always lock your car, including the boot
REMOVE all valuables from sight (loose change, electronic devices, sunglasses, wallets/purses, GPS etc)
Install an electronic engine immobiliser
