Police are investigating a break and enter and deprivation of liberty incident which resulted in an emergency declaration this morning in Everton Hills.
Just after 3am, police were called to an address on South Pine Road following reports of two people loitering in the area.
The dog squad attended and tracked the pair to a nearby address on South Pine Road, where they had broken in and barricaded themselves inside a garage.
All four people who reside at the address were evacuated safely during the incident.
An emergency declaration was made at 6am as the man was believed armed with a knife and allegedly holding his associate against her will.
Specialist police and negotiators were on scene and began speaking with the man.
At 10am today, the woman was released from the garage without harm and at 10.15am, the man surrendered to police without incident.
