On Tuesday, October 22, police from Boondall police station attended the Taigum Child Edu-Care Centre to drop off all the plastic lids that the Boondall Police station cleaner, Jo, saves from the bottles consumed at the station.
The Taigum Child Edu-care Centre has set themselves a target of collecting 20,000 lids that will then be given to the ‘Lids 4 Kids’ program that is recycling plastic bottle tops into prosthetic limbs for children.
All milk, soft drink and water bottle lids are being collected and then sent to Envision Hands to be turned into hand and arm mobility aids for children.
Envision Hands are also training disadvantaged people to help out. For more information on this program, click here.
Whilst at the centre, police took the opportunity to talk to the children about the role of police in the community.
The children took the opportunity to take a pretend drive in a real police car.
