Melbourne Cup is nearly upon us and police are expecting over 8,000 punters, families and those who have taken a sickie (remember, no social media selfies, because you’re sick) to attend!
Hendra Police would like to remind everyone that the following road closures will occur:
Roads closed between 7am to 8pm;
Racecourse Road closed to vehicle traffic between Beatrice and Lancaster Road (residents and business owners excepted);
Lancaster Road closed between Rupert and Vine Street (residents excepted) – all traffic diverted down Rupert and Vine to Beatrice Terrace (anyone wishing to enter Racecourse Road must do so via Beatrice, traffic controllers on duty all day and;
McGill Avenue closed at Kitchener Road from 2pm.
Police will be conducting foot, bike, vehicle and fashion patrols within the surrounding areas to ensure community safety and no persons are found horsing around.
